POLARIS: North Star Montessori Parent Association

The North Star Montessori Parent Association (Polaris) is a support group to the children, staff, teachers, and administration of North Star Montessori School. The organization is intended to give parents or legal guardians the opportunity to become an active part of the school community. The children benefit by seeing their parents "caring through action" about the total school community. The staff benefits from the extra support, both concrete and spiritual, given by the parents. The parents have the opportunity to become deeply involved in their child(ren)'s education. A true sense of community is the desired effect.

Goals
· To provide a means for parents to meet each other and work together with staff and students for the benefit of all children.
· To raise monies through fundraising activities that will be used to enhance the school environment to the benefit of all children.
· To provide a means through which parents can meet each other and get to know one another better.

All parents or legal guardians (and interested grandparents) who have children currently enrolled in North Star Montessori School are invited to be members of Polaris. There are many ways to give your time. At the beginning of each year a volunteer interest form is sent out on which you can indicate the manner in which you would like to become a part of the Polaris team.

Fundraising is an important and necessary activity for North Star Montessori School. Staff salaries are the single largest expense at over 80% of the operating budget. We are committed to both providing acceptable salaries to our highly talented and trained staff, as well as highly innovative programs for our students. In order to accomplish both of these goals successfully, fundraising is a more acceptable option to raising tuition or fees
