Little Dippers

"EDUCATION WITHOUT BOUNDARIES"

Little Dippers (steady walkers 15-30 months)

The focus in these classes for our youngest students is socialization, language development, large and fine motor skill development and working toward independence. This independence includes feeding and other daily life skills. Brain development in infants and toddlers is happening at lightning speed.  The brain is making synaptic connections at the rate of 7000 a second.  Talking face to face to your infant/toddler is one of the most important things you can do to enhance language skills. The Montessori environment for this age of development is focused on fostering trust in the child.

Caring, trained adults respond to the physical and psychological needs of the toddler, and care for them in an environment specially prepared for their special needs. There is an area for floor play and movement, mesh cots for sleeping and other developmentally appropriate equipment.

As the child grows, the Montessori materials grow with them.  The larger spaces and new works, or materials, provide the child with opportunity to “do it myself”.  Confidence and independence grow as the child participates in practical life activities like hanging up coats, pouring water and cleaning up spills. The toddler environment is rich in language, music and movement.
